Magical Pentopia Store Seeking Investors with Vision.

Pen Donation from Sebastopol

I went out today to pick up some pens dropped at the Sutter VNA Thrift Store in Sebastopol dropped by my facebook friend Scotty M. I then went to Starbucks on 962 Gravenstein Avenue to have some coffee and write in my journal. That’s when I saw the perfect 648 sq/ft space for lease and got me thinking again about opening up Pentopia.

Pentopia is the magical land of pens, new and used for sale of every kind. There are regular pens, specialty pens, crafts made from used pens, and works of art called pentings. Its a place to hang out, buy a pen, make a craft, color on the walls, be transported into another world and be uplifted.

Its what the Willy Wonka factory would look like if it made pens instead of candy. Painted walls with hills, plants, trees and sky. Grassy path ways leading you around the various pens covered plants and trees. Wall murals covered in pens and a place to hang out, enjoy the view and explore the wonderful world of pens.

Drop off your old pens, stay and make a pen craft or help out with the latest pen mural. Buy a regular pen or find a special one for that special someone, a pen for everyone and for every occasion. Then go next door and get some paper to go with your new pen.

I believe Pentopia is an amazing place and it needs to happen, I have a couple of weeks to raise the necessary capital to start this thing here in Sebastopol. I have been thinking about Pentopia for about three years and believe that now is the time to step out in faith and make it happen. I need resources to get going in this venture so I am seeking investors who have caught the vision to step forward with me to provide capital and the materials necessary to make Pentopia a reality.

I have a detailed plan for Pentopia and would love to share my vision with you. If you or someone you know wants to partner with me on this amazing project please email me and lets make Pentopia happen.

It is time to prepare for the future

If you were wondering, probably not but I noticed that there has been very little said on the Pen Guy blog. I have been taking time to build and work on other projects like Art Car Central which is a blog with many art car photos, art car videos and other strange and wonderful vehicles. I am also working on updating a site called Envisionary Design which is my graphic design business. I have a bunch of my work up and will continue to write articles about design and other useful information. I feel it is now time to get organized, update, contact, network, build to get ready for the interesting times that are coming. I am very optimistic because I believe difficulty will cause many of us to rethink our lives and make positive changes that have long been long overdue. I am still collecting pens even now and I thank all of you who are sending pens from near and far. All the best. Costas Schuler.

Collect A Million Pens – Pen Guy’s plan for re-using pens

Recycled Felt Tip Marker Bag

In the past three and half years I have managed to collect over 10,000 pens that I glued on my Mercedes Pens Art Car and people ask, “now what?” So far I have not found anyone out there who has a better solution for the millions of pens that end up in the land fill each year. There was a recent article called Refillable vs disposable pens written by Michael Bloch that addressed this problem and according to his article the number of disposable pens used each year in the USA is a staggering 106 billion. He concludes by mentioning that the “Pen Guy” yours truly, is the only one out there re-using and recycling pens. If I am the only solution out there then why not kick it up a notch by collecting a million pens and then make stuff out of them. I have a journal full of ideas, pen art, pen sculpture, pen furniture, pen jungle gyms, and my favorite “Pentopia” a road side attraction to house all my pen creations.

Whether its the ball point pen, the marker, the dry erase, the felt tip, what ever you call it, the boring pen to the fancy pen, I want to fill an entire warehouse and then spend the next twenty years figuring out and making beautiful things with them. How about a house built entirely from old pens? Insulation made from the crayola foam part that holds the ink? what of clothing died with ink extracted from old pens? what of pillows filled with pen springs? An article written by DIY life called 15 uses for old pens is another 15 ideas I found thus far but we need more.

The One Million Pen Project starts today, so collect your old pens and send them in.

Mercedes Pens Plans for the Future

Due to the fact that the Mercedes Pens is so much darn fun to drive and work on I decided to make some more additions for 2007

1) Add an additional 5,000 pens by June (Start of parade season) to bring me to a total of 10,000 pens at least by the next Art Car Fest in September of 2007
2) Paint the inside of the car and add some of those 5,000 pens
3) Create “City On A Hill” on the roof of the car. That’s a city scape made from giant pens created from PVC pipe.

I want to continue to be available for other public events and speaking engagements.
My goal this year is to speak/appear at 40 events, lofty I know but its a way to give back to the community that has been so supportive of this great project.
My dream is to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams and visions for their life. The simple act of gluing pens on my Mercedes was the key to unlocking my dream. Obeying that inner voice and having the faith to believe that it was a worthy goal to pursue, got me to were I am today. I’ve always wanted to inspire make people laugh and this car opened the door to my dream.

The door first opened when I was asked to speak at a school after seeing my car parked next door where I worked. This March I get go back to the same school and share more about this awesome journey I have been privileged to embark upon.
I was also asked to MC a benefit Conscert to raise money for a women’s shelter here in town how cool is that?
