I have been sitting on these donated pens from Aloha Hawaii for a while but here they are. They were sent in by D.C. from Mililani Hawaii about a month ago, sorry for the delay. I did a little quick Photoshop magic to liven up the bunch, now I wish I was really there and not just faking it in Photoshop. Thanks D.C and Aloha:) I wish I were there too.
Pens Donated from China via Ohio
I recently got these bag of used pens from Amanda who teaches in China but lives in Ohio. She comes back home once a year to visit friends and family and this year she brought along some friends, a bunch of used pens:) What’s really awesome about receiving pens in the mail from other countries is that it reminds of when my dad used to travel abroad and he would always bring me back something. He usually brought back coins for my collection and twice he brought me toy cars, a red Alpha Romeo and a red remote controlled Ferrari. Even back then I was into collecting and cars and this particular batch of used pens reminded me of that happy memory. Amanda also wrote me note which I really appreciate because it takes the guess work out and I get to properly thank the donor, here is a what she said:
“Wishing you continued success and innovative ideas in your recycled pen project!! Know I’m a fan of your creativity and a fan of recycling trash into treasures, so you rank high in book of “Cool”:)
Amanda thank you so much for the pens and I wish you the best in your adventures in China and beyond.
Donated pens save graduate student’s life
These used pens were donated by Jenna, a graduate student from Washington who wrote a note saying that these pens got her through graduate school. I would say that these pens may have had life saving properties that enabled her to get through “hell” and back. They might have given her the will to write another paper or a least the will to proof read her work until it was perfect.
My theory is that the thought of donating these pens to the pen guy when they were empty was enough of a motivation. The only way get through graduate school was to complete her work and get her degree in Natural Medicine from Bastyr University.
Again all this is guesswork, but I have become a bit of an amateur analyst and can tell a lot about people by the pens they send to me. In most cases people don’t give me any information so I have to make educated guesses based on the type pens and the information printed on them.
Jenna thank you for the pens and congratulations.
Pens Donated from the UK
It’s been way too long since wrote last, I have been busy designing web sites for local business and making engine repairs to my aging Mercedes Pens now with 274k miles and in need of some major engine work. I am hoping to get the car ready for Art Car Fest 2010 that will held October 8-10.
These came with no return address but when I pealed back the label I found a name. So I think these pens came from “Bob” from the UK. Thanks Bob, I really appreciate you sending these over all the way from across the “lake”:):):)
Pen Guy Episode 4 – How To Buy A Used Car Hassle Free
I met Michael Carney at my local gas station the other day who happens to be known as the “Car Man“. We had a good chat about what he does for a living and promised he would send me some used pens in the mail. They did come, so I decided to make short video about what its like to buy a used car from the dealership these days knowing a little bit about it from having sold cars for exactly three months. What Michael does is eliminate the hassle of buying a used car by doing it for you. He goes out to car auctions every week and shops for cars so you don’t have to. After watching my funny video you will agree with me that car buying is nightmare and what the Car Man does makes sense. If you happen to be in the market for a used car give the Car Man a call or if you want to do it yourself I suggest you read Beat The Car Salesman.
